I mosey on over to my favorite app store and voila, an awesome Bible quote app is just waiting for me! It’s a spinner app, where you spin what looks like a big prize wheel and the topic that it lands on is the verse you get. You could move the wheel to a specific topic yourself if you were looking for something in particular.
I came. I saw! I spun! All was great and wonderful! It was beautifully presented, cleanly laid out, and I’m not ashamed to say I thought I’d found “The One.” But something was eating at me. Well, two
things, really. On one of the tabs at the bottom, you could click on the developers other apps. From this same developer, there were several non-Christian themed apps. It might seem rather petty, but it feels too much like the developer is just out for financial gain, not to help anyone in their Christian walk. Granted, if that were my only concern, I could overlook it, but there was something much deeper.
Each subject on the wheel was represented by a symbol, rather than the word or phrase. For example, a physician symbol might be for healing verses or even physical well being. Some of the symbols didn’t seem to match up that well with the topic, however. As I’m looking at the symbols, the Holy Spirit within me is raising a red flag. Something is wrong with the symbols… I know them, but I can’t think of where. Thinking, thinking, thinking…
One of them in particular is eating away at me, so I google… Some of these symbols from the “bible app” were in fact satanic symbols. Symbols of witchcraft and tarot reading. I find that the developer of the bible app also has the exact same setup, including the app “footprint” (the icon) and symbols on a tarot app. Instead of the bible quotes, it has “spiritual” quotes from tarot and witchcraft.
Friends, I want you to know I deleted that app, but more importantly, I need you to know why. Right here in our Tennessee Valley, we have a very high concentration of practicing witches. As Christians, we are to guard our hearts – it belongs to Jesus! I know the content of the app is biblical, but I have to look at the satanic imagery to get to the content. The more I look at it, the more I become complacent with it. The more complacent I become, the wider the door is that allows satan to fill the very spot that belongs to Jesus. The wider the door is, the harder it is to push satan back out when he sets up shop in my soul. And he’ll try, I promise you. He’ll try with me, and he’ll try with you. Guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” You may not recognize something when you see it like I didn’t at first glance. But listen to the Holy Spirit that nudges you when something’s not right, and remove yourself from whatever it is. The Bible says satan roams around like a lion seeking whom he can destroy. We are not exempt from that. He’s looking for you, and he’s looking for me. Don’t give him a way in, and if you aren’t strong enough to say no or walk away from satan, ask God to do it on your behalf. He’s already won that battle and will gladly fight for YOU if you ask him.
XOXO,
Karen
