Prayers Are For Saying, Not Reading

I gotta tell ya. When I first started writing stories for children years ago, I never thought I would branch out beyond that. I always saw children as my mission field. Don’t get me wrong – they still are. But a few years ago, God laid it on my heart to begin speaking to women as well. Despite thinking He was crazy (because I know my talents better than He does, right? HA!), I started writing uplifting things for my 31 team, and at one point – until we were asked to stop – conducted Bible studies at work. Even began sharing some of my devotions with other ladies NOT on my team, which was a true honor. Then earlier this year, I started going through some things in my business… Every emotion you could possibly imagine, from sadness, to joy, anger, envy, coveting someone else’s business, you name it, over a 6 month span. No matter what it was, I countered it biblically, and wrote it down. From that
was born a devotional book, just for direct sellers! It’s almost done, in fact, and I have had the wonderful blessing of having a 31 sister proofread them for me after each one is completed. So to think God would have me, a children’s book writer, write things to uplift women is such a huge, miraculous, scary honor to begin with. But here’s the thing.

I never read anyone else’s prayers at the end of their devotional.

Never.

You know at the end of the devotional, it’s all like “Dear Jesus… Yada yada… Amen.” Yeah. I never read them. Ever. It’s like they’re meant for someone else. I mean how can someone else tell you what to pray? That’s between you and God! So imagine me, the one who doesn’t read anyone else’s prayer, writing prayers at the end of each devotional. Craziness, I know.

But it’s funny, I never know what will be on the page when it comes to the prayer. It just comes once the devotional is through, and it’s what’s on my heart that God wants someone out there to know, that will speak to their heart. I promise you, it’s never canned. In fact, I can’t even write the prayer, even if the devotional is done, until my heart and mind are in the right place, aligned with God.

That said, if you buy it, and you don’t read the prayers at the end of each day, I promise not to judge you.

But if you do buy it, read the prayers, and better yet, if you pray them, I truly hope God reaches straight down from heaven, with your face in his hands, eyeball to eyeball, and tells you right then and there that He heard every word you said.

XOXO,
Karen
