Your mission, should you choose to accept it Dream Team, is to use the next few days to identify and conquer the things in your life that make success seem imPossible.
Enemy #3: Not Good Enough
It’s easy to see the success of other women and compare yourselves to them. Throughout our entire life we are taught to compete. From ballgames and cheer squads in grade schools, to standardized tests, GPAs and even familial comparisons between you, your siblings, or your cousins. So when we look at our business, we see ourselves, in a race with another consultant… to a title… to a number on your team… or to a pv level. We all want to hear our name in lights because we “won” whatever is up for grabs that month. And when we lose, it’s also easy to kick ourselves and think that not only is it not for me this time, it will never be for me. “That blessing’s not for me. That’s someone else’s
blessing. I’ll never be good enough for that.”
Stop and think… have you asked for these things? In Numbers 26, the Lord told Moses to divvy up land according to the tribes. In that time, the land was inherited by sons. But Zelophehad “had no sons” to inherit his portion. So instead, his daughters boldly came forth and spoke to Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and all the congregation and said “Our father died in the wilderness… and he had no sons. Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.” The sisters not only questioned Moses, but they also approached to question God!
They knew that without a brother, they wouldn’t receive their fair portion. Their father lived a good life, he was not a rebel, and they knew they deserved to question the status quo, and ask for God’s favor. The Lord came back to Moses and said “’The daughters of Zelophehad are right in what they are saying; you shall indeed let them possess an inheritance among their father’s brothers and pass the inheritance of their father on to them. You shall also say to the Israelites, “If a man dies, and has no sons, then you shall pass his inheritance on to his daughters. If he has no daughters, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. It shall be for the Israelites a statute and ordinance, as the LORD commanded Moses.”
These women not only changed their own fate, but changed the fate of every woman from that point forward. What would their life be like if they had listened to satan tell them “just forget it and move on. You’re not worthy. You’ll never be good enough.”
I suppose he spoke the same lies to the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus had stopped and spoken to her, and asked her for a drink. This woman was the worst of society – she had five husbands, AND a current affair going on at the moment. Not to mention Samaritans were not supposed to even be speaking to Jews. She was drawing water at the hottest part of the day – why? Because she knew she would meet fewer people that way, and would avoid the stares, pointing, and gossip from the townfolk. But Jesus knew she was worthy, no matter how the rest of society made her feel, and she went back to spread the word and make believers. John 4:39 says: 39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers. 42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
All of these women changed not only their own fates, but the lives and fates of others, by simply believing GOD rather than satan. They did not believe the whispers that satan tells us that try to defeat the mission we have.
Reflect:
Have you ever felt not good enough in comparison to another consultant? What about to another woman? Have you ever felt that you just don’t measure up? In your quiet time, take a moment to reflect on how God truly feels about you. You are unique, and not made for comparison to anyone or anything. Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Realize that YOU can bring God so much joy, not because you deserve it or because you earned it. There are no levels with God, and no comparisons – you are his child, and Zephaniah 3:17 says: He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Reflect on your own path, whether it’s been winding or straight, and realize that God had a reason for sending you this way. Realizing that your journey is your own, with no comparisons to anyone else’s journey, how can you start today, to realize you hold the Possible in your hand?
